The Deer Gang comes to visit
Six (one not pictured) deer came to visit this afternoon, but not the buck. If you look carefully at the picture you can see a cat also made its way into the photo.
Nate's been finding the sheds the past few days. I still haven't found one, but most of the males are losing their antlers about now (out here), so hopefully I will find some!
We saw a ton of deer on the hill behind our house yesterday, and I said to Ryan, "It's just like Rachel and Doug's house." He pointed out that the deer were at least 500 yards away (the closest) and that we were using binoculars to see them well. Then I was thinking about the deer as I walked out of the house and was startled to see two brown, four-legged creatures in our neighbor's yard out of the corner of my eye--"Deer! So close to our house!" my brain said. And then, "Dogs--duh!" Alas, you win in the proximity of wildlife to your house game. Congratulations.
A buck (I didn't count, but I'm guessing at least a 10 point) and two does were hanging out at the little building (steam plant?) next to the math building Wednesday morning before 8:00 classes--about 3 feet from a sidewalk on which many students were walking. It was a bit unnerving.
